Eating a well-balanced diet is the key to keeping your eyes in top shape, and it can also help you to reduce your risk of developing those serious eye ailments. Incorporate foods rich in vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. Doing so can help you to keep eye conditions like cataracts, which cause cloudy vision, age-related macular degeneration (which can limit your eyesight), glaucoma, dry eyes, poor night vision along with other eye problems at bay. Do you know that your eyes need antioxidants like lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamins A, C, E, omega-3 fatty acids and zinc? So, just eat a healthy diet.

A balanced diet is the one with a variety of proteins, dairy, fruits, and vegetables. During the day, try to eat a rainbow (include many types of foods in different colours). Cut down on unhealthy foods that are processed, contain saturated fats, or that are high in sugar. Here, we list a few foods which can be helpful for your eyes.

  • You should opt for eggs: Eating eggs can be beneficial for your eyes. The yolk is loaded with vitamin A, lutein, zeaxanthin, and zinc, which is important for eye health. Vitamin A can help in safeguarding your cornea. If you consume food rich in lutein and zeaxanthin it can cut down your risk of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts. Moreover, zinc is beneficial for your retinal health. So, just include them in sandwiches or boil them and eat them.
  • You should opt for fish: Salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids can contribute to the health of the retina in the back of the eye. Furthermore, they can prevent dry eyes. You can grill salmon and also eat it for your dinner.
  • You should opt for almonds: They contain vitamin E which guards against unstable molecules that target healthy tissue. If you consume regular amounts of vitamin E then you will be able to prevent age-related macular degeneration along with cataracts. So, just eat almonds every day or you can add them to your milk or salad.
