Come spring season and along with the pleasant weather, beautiful flower and lush greenery, spring also brings in pollens. According to WHO, almost 25% of India suffers from allergic issues and thanks to global warming the number will only increase. While it is almost impossible to completely protect yourself from pollens and avoid pollen allergy because it is almost everywhere, there is still a bit that you can do to save yourself. Here are things you can do to fight pollen. Also Read - Irritable bowel syndrome: Why IBS patients experience abdominal pain after eating certain foods?

1.Keep your windows closed Also Read - Beware! Covid-19 vaccine may cause swelling and inflammation in people with face or lip fillers

It is a no-brainer. Avoid opening your windows to keep pollen away from your home it will help get rid of millions of these minute particles.

2.Machine dry your clothes

Do not dry your clothes outside. Pollen particles may stick to your clothes and in turn, enter your home. Use machine dried clothes.

3.Avoid going out in the middle of the day

Excessive moisture in the morning in form of dew in the morning hinders the pollen from mixing into the air, likewise, during the evening the pollen tends to settle in the ground because of less activity. This makes the midday time the worst for people with pollen allergy to go outside.

4.Plant wisely

We really can’t do without plants around especially if you love to see plants around, you might want to plant smartly and choose the ones that do not generate pollen. Generally, ferns and mosses don’t have pollens and there is a huge variety of such flowering plants, shrubs and fruit-bearing plants that you can plant around you.

5.Clean your pets

Pets can be an easy way to let pollens enter your home even without you knowing it. It may be difficult but as much as possible keep your pets clean, especially when they come from outside to refrain yourself from possible allergens.

6.Stay tuned for the weather

There are days when the pollen content in the air is higher, you might want to download dedicated weather apps that notify such days.

7.Breathe through your nose rather than mouth

Many people tend to use their mouth for breathing which can be dangerous if you are allergic to pollen. Your nose has filters in forms of hair that restrains the pollen-like allergens and pathogens to enter your body. This is one of the reasons that you should strictly avoid nasal waxing which was recently a beauty trend gone viral.

8.Exercise indoors

Exercising outside might seem like a great idea but at least during summer, you must do exercises at home. Replace running with treadmill and other similar exercising equipment to not compromise on your fitness. While exerting you mostly breathe from your mouth which is like an open invitation to pollen and other allergens. Exercise inside.

You must also know about a few common medicines for allergies uses, side-effects and interactions and also stay away from these 6 everyday things that can cause allergies.
