Supta vajrasanaThis asana is an extension of vajrasana and is also known as the reclining thunderbolt-diamond pose. Known for the fact that this asana helps relieve the symptoms of diabetes by stimulating the pancreas, suptavajra asana also helps improve the functioning of your kidneys, spleen, intestines and sexual organs.

Steps to do this asana:

  • Sit in vajrasana.
  • Now place both your hands behind you back, with your fingers facing your buttock.
  • Now slowly lower yourself to the floor using your hands as support.
  • Make sure your back is touching the floor and your knees are together. You can keep your hands either on your things or on the floor.
  • Breathe normally and hold this position for about 10-15 seconds or for as long as you feel comfortable.
  • Once you feel more flexible you can choose to cross your arms above your head, with the right elbow placed above the left one.
  • To get out of this asana use your hands to support your upper body. Push off the floor the same way you got into the position. Remember to get out of this asana as any jerky movements can hurt your back.

Tip: Avoid doing this asana if you have any conditions affecting your hips or have a buildup of gas in your stomach, avoid doing this pose.
