Here are few simple physical activities which you can try –

  • Every day activity The day-to-day activities that help in reducing your weight and in turn lower your blood glucose levels include playing with your kids, cleaning your house, washing your car, taking your dog for a walk, gardening or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
  • Aerobic exercises These include swimming, brisk walking, cycling or dancing. Aim to do these workouts for about 30 minutes a day for at least 5 days a week to get significant improvement. In case you have been not physically active in recent times, start with 5-10 minutes a day and slowly increase the time of activity.
  • Flexibility exercises The normal stretching exercises for about 5 10 minutes daily or lifting light weights actually help in burning more calories along with keeping your fit and active.

Being physically active is the key to active and healthy life in diabetics. But do consult your doctor before going in for strenuous exercises if you suffer from any severe health condition.
