Dengue Outbreak News: Delhi's skies have mostly remained cloudy this monsoon soon with frequent spells of rain as the hot and wet season continues. In August alone, the capital recorded 286.7 mm of rain, which is 25% above the monthly normal. The incessant rain has turned large areas of Delhi-NCR into a mosquito breeding ground, which increases the risk of a mosquito-borne disease outbreak, such as dengue.

58 New Dengue Cases In Delhi-NCR

Recently, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) reported that 58 new cases of dengue have been registered in Delhi in the past week, taking the overall total count to 412. The weekly report by the MCD, against the active number of dengue cases in Delhi, a total of 256 patients are "untraced". Data also shows that 365 cases are in the areas of MCD's jurisdiction, 8 cases in New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), 34 in Delhi Cantonment and 9 from the railways.

MCD senior official said, "The reporting of the cases has significantly improved, but there are still a large number of cases where the addresses of the patients are not properly provided. In case of incomplete address or only a general colony or region like Burari, Laxmi Nagar or Jahangirpuri being mentioned, we can not trace the exact location of the case. Counter measures can not be taken, and clusters can't be easily identified."

Diet To Recovery From Dengue

Dengue is an acute viral infection with potential fatal complications. The Red Flower Publication in one of its studies states that a good nutritional status is crucial to increase appetite, balance electrolytes and also increase RBC count. The medical and scientific publishing group suggest a few diet tips to follow during these crucial times. It suggests consuming plenty of fluid (water, herbal tea, coconut water, organic fruit juice, etc.) to remove toxins from your body via urine, while preventing dehydration. Another tip it suggests is adding oats and multi-grain bread to your diet to provide you with energy and fibre while recovering from the fever.
