Here is why coconut oil works best for vaginal dryness

It acts as an excellent lubricant: It helps moisturise and lubricate the area and relieve immediate discomfort due to burning and itching. It soothes the area and alleviates pain aggravated by friction due to movement. Did you know coconut oil also helps to burn fat?

It protects from infections: Coconut oil has certain antibacterial and antiseptic properties that help to fight fungal and bacterial infections. There are studies that indicate that topical application of coconut oil can help reduce atopic dermatitis [1]. However, it also works for vaginal atrophy.

It keeps the area hydrated: Lack of estrogen makes the area dry and itchy. Not only does coconut oil take care of the dryness, it also shields the genitals from bacteria or fungus and saves you from vaginal candidiasis or vaginal infection.

In my experience applying coconut oil helped keep vaginal dryness at bay for a couple of days without reapplication. In case you suffer from severe dryness, applying coconut oil regularly can help. However, it is better to go to your doctor and find out if this condition is a warning sign.
