Nausea can be caused due to motion sickness or any underlying health complication. In some cases lack of sleep for quite a few nights may also lead to this condition. However, one of the most common reasons is indigestion due to bacterial attack. Whatever be the reason, medications are not the only way to deal with it. According to Dr Girija Khanna, author of All About Herbal Remedies, a mixture of cloves and honey acts as a miracle remedy to relieve this symptom. Here are some causes for nausea and vomiting.

What makes the combo an effective aid against nausea?

The mixture of clove powder and honey has been used as an ancient remedy to deal with nausea. Apart from an anti-inflammatory property, cloves are known to act as a natural anaesthetic agent which numbs the stomach lining. This in turn prevents the vomiting reflex of the stomach. Whereas, the antibacterial activity of honey helps in fighting off the bacteria, responsible for upset stomach and soothes the walls of the digestive tract. How to use it?

  • Dry roast 4 5 cloves. Cool them and powder them with a mortar and pestle.
  • Take a pinch of this powder and mix it with a teaspoon of honey. Lick this mixture whenever you feel like puking.

Even pregnant women can use this remedy to combat nausea, which is one of the common signs of pregnancy.

Tip: You can make clove powder beforehand and store it in a container.
