Symptoms of bronchitisIf you are currently suffering from common cold or flu and doing nothing about it, you could soon develop bronchitis. It is a condition where swelling and inflammation of the respiratory airways occur. The most common symptom of bronchitis is persistent cough. But to eliminate the possibility of other respiratory infections, check out if you're also suffering from the following symptoms of bronchitis.

1. Cough with phlegm: If your cough is persistent for ten days or more, it's definitely a bit more serious. Cough that produces phlegm or mucus, usually yellow-green in colour, is an indication of acute bronchitis. You could also develop a sore throat.

2. Chest discomfort: Soreness in the chest while coughing can cause general discomfort. You may also feel congestion in the chest, tightness and pain in the thorax region due to increased inflammation.

4. Breathlessness: Congested respiratory lining and inflammation of the airways makes breathing difficult. You may experience shortness of breath, especially with physical activity.

5. Fatigue: Due to shortness of breath, the oxygen level in your body may get reduced. This results in fatigue and general weakness.

6 Fever: With acute bronchitis, you may develop low-grade fever. If your cough is persistent for more than a month it could progress to chronic bronchitis, where high fever with chills may occur.
