October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Even the healthiest of us can have breast cancer due to several factors. But there are ways to prevent it too and one of them is following a Mediterranean diet. According to a study published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine, this diet can lower your risk of breast cancer by a whopping 68%.

A Mediterranean diet that is rich in plant-based foods, nuts, fish and extra virgin olive oil is beneficial in preventing cancer. In the study, women were divided into two groups where one followed this diet. After five years, these women showed a 68% lower risk of malignant breast cancer than those who followed the other diet.
