Dubai-based travel influencer and photographer Anunay Sood has died at the age of 32, leaving fans and followers across social media in shock. Although the exact cause of death has not been officially verified, it underscores an important issue that is of concern to many content creators and influencers as they neglect to take care of their health by focusing his or her attention only on creating exciting content. Travel influencers are usually busy people who make their lives appear exciting on the internet but in real life can be risky.
Abnormal sleep is one of the greatest health risks facing content creators. Travelling regularly, late-night editing, and social networking may affect a proper sleep cycle of the body. A deficit of rest may compromise the immune system; I can get more stressed and have higher chance of developing heart issues. In the long term, insomnia due to chronic sleep deprivation may become important, such as mental disorders such as anxiety and depression.
Content creators are under continuous pressure in order to remain relevant, attain a following and produce further content. This will result in a level of chronic stress, burnout and even anxiety disorders. Mental health is not taken seriously due to the need to create viral content, and in fact, lack of proper coping strategies may involve stress not only mentally but also physically.
A lot of physical work can be done because there is frequent travelling, carrying equipment, etc. There is also the possibility of back and joint pain or muscle and body injury due to long flights, trekking or standing for long periods during filming. Many creators do not pay attention to them because they do not think that the excitement of travelling supersedes the dangers.
Travel influencers tend to have meals on the road, using fast food, street food or other food. Although this is convenient, this kind of diet is usually rich in fats, sugar and salt and poor in vital food elements.
There are a lot of young influencers who consider themselves healthy and do not visit a doctor. With regular screenings, early warning signs about severe diseases such as heart disease or hypertension may be missed.
The sudden death of Anunay Sood is a wake-up call that no profession or interest must be pursued at the expense of health. To achieve the goal of influencing and creating content, travel influencers and content creators must consider sleep, nutrition, and mental and physical health. Simple measures such as balanced meals, scheduled rest, mental health breaks, and regular checkups can make a big difference.
