Bright red, hot pink and electric blue are trending colours this summer that are seen more on people’s hair than clothes. 2. Contact Dermatitis: Dermatitis is the inflammation of the skin and usually causes redness and itching when the skin is irritated by chemicals.

3. Eczema: It is a very common skin condition and is characterised by itchy, red, and crusting patches on the skin. Inflammation, flaking and blistering of the area are common symptoms.

4. Skin cancer: Skin cancer is a possibility in people like salon professionals who are continuously exposed to hair colours, but it is very rare.

5. Premature greying: Early exposure to hair colour is stresful to the hair follicle and may result in greying.

How can you prevent hair damage due to hair colours?

1. Don’t colour your hair frequently and do it only when required.

2. Stick to one brand and do not change it frequently.

3. Use ammonia free hair colours as they are less harmful than hair colours with ammonia. You can also ditch chemical hair colours and use natural hair colours instead.

4. If you are planning any other chemical treatment along with colouring, then it is best to colour your hair in the end. Avoid any chemical treatment after immediately colouring your hair. Here are 6 tips you need to keep in mind while colouring your hair.
