Your lungs are important and here's why you should test its capacity from time-to-time. There are many health diseases that may impact your lung health directly. Testing your lung capacity will help you determine whether your organs are healthy or if you have any underlying issues asthma, COPD, or post-illness lung weakness. It can also help detect issues early on and take care of your overall respiratory health. This test is especially essential in order to test whether or not you're breathing efficiently, especially if you exercise, live in polluted areas, or have a history of respiratory conditions. It's a simple way to stay ahead of potential problems and keep your lungs strong and healthy.
This is a very short exercise yet very powerful. It is a combination of deep breathing, body movement, and mild cardio stimulation. It focuses on expanding your lungs to full capacity; it helps exhale the toxins and gets your chest muscles moving. Try it once every day for 2 minutes. The best time for this exercise is during the early morning hours, right after waking up or during the evening to cleanse toxins from the body.
Practice diaphragmatic breathing. This refers to breathing deep to test your lung capacity. For this you need to stand up straight, place one hand on your chest and the other hand on your belly. First step is to inhale through your nose for 4 seconds. Next, exhale slowly through your mouth for 6 seconds. Repeat this process for four to five times. This exercise helps expand your lungs, release trapped air and improve oxygen circulation.
Practice arm raises with inhale and exhale. This exercise opens up your chest, improves oxygen circulation and stimulates the lungs. For this you need to stand up straight with your feet hip-width apart. Next, take a long deep breath through your nose; raise both arms slowly over your head. Hold your breath for two seconds. Exhale through your mouth and then lower your arms. Repeat this for 30 seconds.
Practice pursed lip breathing. This exercise will help release the lungs of stale air, strengthen the respiratory muscles, increase oxygen intake, slow down breathing and help clear the lungs of CO2. For this you need to inhale slowly through the nose for three seconds. Then you have to purse your lips and exhale slowly through the mouth for six seconds.
This is another simple exercise to test your lungs. For this you need to stand up straight and jog in place with your knees as high as possible. Keep your breathing steady and natural and through your nose. Stop after 30 seconds of cardio and the take a deep breath in and out. This will improve endurance and lung capacity naturally.
