Hina Khan Health Update: Actor Gives Herself A Makeover While Battling Cancer

Amid her breast cancer treatment, Hina Khan has been spreading infectious optimism on social media, staying constantly cheerful and positive!

Hina Khan continues to spread cheer and positivity on social media as she battles cancer. The actor has been optimistic throughout the journey thus far, after revealing earlier this year that she has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, an advanced form of cancer. She made the heartbreaking announcement in the form of a post on Instagram, wherein she wrote: "To address the recent rumour, I want to share some important news with all the 'Hinaholics' and everyone who loves and cares for me. I have been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. Despite this challenging diagnosis, I want to reassure everyone that I am doing well... My treatment has already begun..."

Since then, Khan has received a lot of love and support from her contemporaries, fans and social media followers. In the last several weeks, the actor has strived to normalise cancer and make it less alarming and dreadful. She has been constantly working, making it to her doctor appointments, travelling, trying to relax, and seeking love and prayers from her well-wishers. Some well-meaning fans have also met her personally to pray for her recovery.

But, the journey itself has been riddled with complications. A side effect of chemotherapy -- necessary for the treatment of cancer -- is loss of hair. Khan, who rose to fame as 'Akshara' in the popular and long-running television show 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' had to shave off her head, as she did not want to sit and watch her hair strands fall off slowly.

It was an empowering decision that she took after her chemotherapy sessions started. The best part was that the actor chose to share this with her followers to end the stigma surrounding chemotherapy-induced hair loss. For a while now, the 37-year-old has been wearing a wig made with her own hair, which she has been styling, too. She has flaunted it during ramp walks, on her social media, posts, etc.

In a video shared recently, Khan was seen sitting down for a styling session that involved a haircut. Her wig was being styled by her hairdresser, and she looked visibly excited for the new look. "This is not my hair," the actor announced. She mentioned that her hairdresser cut her hair and gave her a pixie look the previous time, and now he was working to alter her wig. "It is almost like real hair, and he is giving it layers."

Khan mentioned that one should "try new things", regardless of whether they are wearing hair extensions or a wig. "The show must go on and we have got to stay fashionable."

The actor ended the video on a hopeful note that she would soon be able to grow her hair back, and style it like she used to before the diagnosis.
