Anxiety Management: How to Move from Restlessness to Radiance Naturally and Find Inner Peace
Life is a journey. A journey from birth to death. Most of us, however, focus on the outside world, making our journey an outward journey. Our life becomes a restless and misguided pursuit of happiness and peace. We run behind success, possessions and relationships, believing they will bring us joy. We seek sense-gratification, accomplishments and success. We go on holidays, we journey into unknown worlds, we explore outer space, we dive deep into the oceans we go everywhere but within, on an inward journey. And it is this inner journey that can take us from restlessness to radiance.
The Light Within: What True Radiance Really Means
The journey from restlessness to radiance begins when we pause and ask the deepest questions: Who am I? Why am I here? What is the purpose of life? It is in this moment of self-inquiry that transformation begins. As AiR Atman in Ravi Happiness Ambassador and Spiritual Leader teaches, the outer journey must turn inward if one truly seeks peace and happiness. The focus must shift from acquiring to awakening, from becoming to being. We realize that restlessness is not rooted in life but in ignorance in not knowing who we truly are.
Because of our ignorance, we suffer the triple suffering of the body, mind and ego. The body experiences physical pain. The mind creates fear, worry, stress, anxiety, regret, shame and guilt. The ego screams 'I, me, mine!' agonising us with anger, hate, revenge, jealousy, pride, greed and selfishness. These 14 monsters created by the mind and ego steal our joy and peace, our radiance.
The restlessness belongs to the body, mind and ego. But we are neither the body, nor the mind and ego. We are the Soul, a Spark Of Unique Life - a part of the Supreme Immortal Power we call God. Our true Self, the Soul, remains untouched, eternal and blissful. The moment we awaken to the truth that I am not the body that will die, not the mind I cannot find but the Divine Soul within, restlessness disappears. We live in consciousness of the truth - a state of SatChitAnanda. This awakening is not about renouncing the world; it is about realizing the truth while living in it. We can be in the midst of noise yet be in silence. We can be surrounded by chaos yet be calm. When we live as the Soul, we live with awareness. We realize that God is everywhere, in everything. We live with acceptance and surrender, peace and bliss.
Living as a Yogi: From Ignorance to Illumination
The radiance we are talking about is not the outward glow of the skin but the light within, the light of Enlightenment, the light of the Soul. It is the radiance of realization, the light of truth that shines when ignorance is gone. This radiance manifests in one's eyes, words and actions. It fills us with love and compassion. Such a being no longer reacts with anger or fear. They respond with understanding and grace. They see God in all, love God in all and serve God in all.
To move from restlessness to radiance, one must silence the monkey mind. It is when the monkey mind is still, when it becomes a monk that we can realize the truth as we introspect and contemplate guided by a true Guru. Restlessness ends when realization begins. The journey is not far; it is within. When we transcend the desires of the lower self and awaken to the higher self, we live in the radiance of truth a state of eternal peace, Divine love and everlasting bliss.
