You reach out for that bottle of shampoo in the middle of your shower only to find that it is almost empty. What do you do? You do not have too many options, though. You can either rinse your hair with just water or fill the rest of your shampoo bottle with water. If you go with the second choice, your shampoo will be diluted with water, but will it cleanse your hair effectively?

The answer is yes! If you are using a shampoo that lathers up and requires a lot of water to rinse out. The best thing to do not to make your shampoo too diluted is to take the shampoo in your palm, add water and lather up and then apply. Adding a little water to your shampoo is in fact recommended as direct application of shampoo can be harmful.

However, if your shampoo does not lather, it can become too diluted to remove dirt and oil from your hair. As sulphate makes the hair dry and brittle, there could be chances that you have switched to a sulphate-free shampoo. If you are using a shampoo with less sulphate, it will not produce a rich lather. You would also want to avoid adding water to shampoos formulated for scalp conditions such as dandruff and eczema.

Make sure you keep these points in mind the next time you dilute your shampoo with water.
