Whether or not you should go for a chemical peel is something that you should take up with your dermatologist. But if you have already decided to try this procedure to impart glow and sheen to your skin as the treatment promises, then probably winter is a better time to schedule your appointment. We spoke to Dr Soma Sarkar, Medical Director & Dermatologist, Skin Inn Clinic, Mumbai to know more about this. She says, Cosmetic skin treatments like chemical peels (milk peel and mask peel) and lasers for various covered parts of the body can be easily carried out in winters as the skin is not exposed to the sun too much and also there is no excessive sweating. Here is how to take care of your skin after chemical peels.

In fact, to undergo skin treatment know during winter the weather is on your side. Not that you won t be subjected to the UV rays of the sun but you will be covered in woollens or probably stay indoors more. However, if your job demands you to be outdoors then probably you have to take some day offs as the peeling after the procedure begins three days after the first session and lasts up to five to seven days. Sun exposure during this time can lead to colour changes and hyperpigmentation. On very cold days when the weather is windy and the sun is covered in clouds there might be less sun damage to your skin. But still, remember to take precautions like applying sunscreens as the winter sun rays are also potent no matter if the exposure is less. Here are three reasons why you need sunscreens during winters.

If you opt for a chemical peel procedure, know that your entire treatment will be spaced out over few months for four to six sessions. It is better to get it done during winters and give your skin enough time to recover and rejuvenate till the summers come and you are in your radiant best. As in the summers, you will be exposed to the UV rays more that can damage your new skin.

Apart from chemical peels, winters are a good time to do laser hair removals as well as skin lightening treatments.
