If you are a beauty, connoisseur you must have tried everything from foaming masks to facial oils to cringe-worthy pimple popping methods. But did you try using micellar products for your hair? Micellar water shampoo can be an excellent way to remove the dirt and oil from the hair. So what exactly are micelles? We turned to beauty blogger Apeksha Nagpal for it.

What is a micellar water shampoo?

A micelle is a molecule with opposite ends. One end is attracted to water and the other end is attracted to oil. This difference in polarity makes it effective in attracting the oil and dirt and quickly rinsing it away. Just like your skin, the micelle-water shampoo quickly grabs the dirt and oil in your hair. But while you do not need to wash away the micelle-water from your face, you need to rinse your micelle shampoo out after you are done with lathering.

What is the difference between micellar water shampoo and a clarifying shampoo?

Just like a clarifying shampoo, the micellar water shampoo removes the dirt and oil from your hair. And while it does not add anything else to your hair, it can be gentle enough to be used every day. On the other hand, clarifying shampoos can damage your hair when used too frequently. That being said you do not necessarily need to replace your clarifying shampoo with a micellar water shampoo. You can just use the micellar shampoo for a gentle cleanse without repeatedly stripping the hair of its natural oils with harsher ingredients. Here's how to shampoo your hair the right way.

One downside of micellar water shampoo is that it does not work well on very oily hair with a lot of dirt. That s when you should turn to a clarifying shampoo or a lighter, more volumising product. Here's how you can make a herbal shampoo at home.
