Winters are the worst time for your skin. It makes your skin dried and dull. Of course, moisturisers come to your rescue but no matter what you apply on your face if you don t rejuvenate and replenish your body internally, no amount of skin care can make you look good and take care of the dryness. As Dr Soma Sarkar, Medical Director and Dermatologist, Skin Inn Clinic, Mumbai explains, Internal hydration during winter is important to keep your skin healthy and supple. Hydration is the only way you can keep your major organs healthy which in turn will help to keep your skin glowing and fight the dryness, She also explains that application of various products on the outer surface does not lead to an ultimate healthy skin in winters. Here is why you need sunscreens during winters.

Here are few tips she offers to keep help you keep your skin hydrated:

  • Drink at least 12 to 14 glasses of water throughout the day which will help to flush out the toxins from the body and keep the cells hydrated enough to fight the winter dryness and that will show on your face too.
  • Include a lot of juicy fruits and vegetables in your meal, especially the seasonal produce that help to impart moisturiser and the right antioxidants to your body. All of this helps to keep your skin glowing and healthy.
  • Drink lots of juices which are high on water content like coconut water, buttermilk, lemon water as intake of liquids helps your skin to retain the essential oils automatically and acts as a natural protection against dryness. Here are seven winter skin care mistakes that you should avoid.
  • Also munching on walnuts and flaxseed will help as they are good for internal moisturisation.

Simply by increasing your water or liquid intake during winters, you can give your skin the much needed TLC.
