Try these hair masks to combat dry, dull and damaged hair

Hair tends to become dry, rough and damage due to many factors. Want strong, lustrous and shiny hair? Apply these hair masks.

It is every woman s dream to have long, shiny and silky tresses. But, due to the lack of maintenance and appropriate care, the hair can get damaged. Dr Apratim Goel dermatologist and laser surgeon Director, Cutis skin studio, Mumbai, lists out few hair masks:

Egg and Oil Hair mask:

2 eggs

2 tsp methi seeds (fenugreek)

2-3 tsp of olive or flax seed oil

1 tsp coffee powder (optional)

Juice of a half lemon

Benefits:

  • Eggs are a storehouse of proteins, they cleanse your scalp and remove dryness
  • Olive or flax seed oil nourishes and moistures the mane.
  • Fenugreek is good for scalp scales as well as dandruff

Directions:

  • First, separate the egg white and yolk. For oily hair, use egg whites only. But, for dry hair, the whole egg can be used/ use only the egg yolk. For normal hair, use the whole egg.
  • Beat the egg.
  • Soak the fenugreek seeds overnight and grind them separately and mix in the eggs.
  • Add flax seed/ olive oil to it and mix well.
  • Lastly, add coffee powder and lemon juice.
  • Massage the mixture onto scalp, from the roots to the hair ends.
  • Keep it for 20 minutes.
  • Cover your hair.
  • Wash it off with lukewarm water. Use a mild egg / herbal shampoo/ fruit shampoo.

Banana Honey Mask:

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana

1 tsp honey

Benefits:

  • Banana is loaded with vitamins and minerals and nourishes the hair.
  • Honey is an excellent moisturizer and seals the good effects of banana into the hair shaft as well as nourishes , softens and moisturizes the hair.

Directions:

  • Mash a ripe banana and blend it.
  • Add lime into it and 1 tsp honey.
  • Apply on color treated, dry and damaged hair.
  • Wash off and shampoo after 30 minutes with warm water.
