Dandruff is the most common scalp problem people struggle to get rid of. It is embarrassing and the constant itchiness, especially during monsoon, makes it a highly uncomfortable condition to live with. These are the side-effects of dandruff.
A month ago, I noticed white flakes on my clothes. When I started using anti-dandruff shampoos, none seemed to help. Other than shampoos, I tried using popular home remedies for dandruff like coconut oil and olive oil. However, after one day of relief from the scalp itchiness caused by dandruff, I was back to square one. Here are dandruff mistakes you must avoid.
After some research, I found out that tea tree oil is one of the most effective home remedies for dandruff and that it can help in soothing dry and irritated skin [1]. Other than that, peppermint oil is a common ingredient in most anti-dandruff shampoos and it is well known for its soothing and cooling effects. Here are home care tips for dandruff during monsoon.
So, I decided to use both. I mixed tea tree oil and peppermint essential oil. I directly applied it to my scalp and massaged the oils into my scalp. As soon as I did that, the itching completely stopped. After that, my scalp didn t feel irritated. Both these oils have a very strong smell, so make sure you apply it right before bedtime and massage your scalp for at least 15 minutes. Leave the oil mixture on your scalp and hair overnight.
After the first time I used both these oils, I observed that there was no itchiness on my scalp. Over the next two weeks, my dandruff problem was history! I highly recommend this quick and easy treatment. You could also try these home remedies for dandruff.
