Summer can be very harsh on your skin, making it oily and leaving it acne-prone. While you may think that you can skip the moisturiser during summers, it is necessary that you keep your skin hydrated as it plays a crucial role in balancing oil production on your skin. Dermatologist, Dr Kiran Lohia, shares tips to keep your skin moisturised in summers while helping you manage oily skin.
No matter how oily your skin is, apply a moisturiser twice a day to keep it hydrated. Opt for an oil-free moisturiser containing ingredients that will treat the breakouts like salicylic acid and tea tree oil. Do not use alcohol-based lotions and moisturisers on your skin as they can lead to breakouts. Also, avoid using moisturisers that contain fragrance, colour or paraben in them.
Use face washes that contain salicylic acid in it. Salicylic acid which is naturally derived from willow bark helps reduce oil production and combat breakouts. Alternatively, you could also use olive oil to remove the dirt effectively from your face. Using olive oil will hydrate and rejuvenate your skin and not strip your skin of natural oils.
After you are done washing your face in the morning and evening, use a hydrating toner that can attract and bind more moisture to the skin without clogging your skin pores. Here are tips to choose the right toner for your skin type.
Also, remember to add a mask to your beauty regime twice a week to moisturise your skin and combat any breakouts. These five orange peel face masks can work wonders on your skin.
