Cysteine treatment for hair has become quite popular across the world for transforming dry, frizzy hair into silky, frizz-free hair. It is considered a better option than keratin since it is claimed that cysteine has no formaldehyde or any other harmful substitutes. It is said to contain amino acids and natural proteins as well. This treatment usually lasts for about 3-4 months depending on how much you wash your hair, how you wash your hair, and with what you wash your hair. I have been able to make cysteine treatment last in my hair for about 6 months with these tried and tested tips. These have worked for me, but you must proceed with caution if you plan to follow these. It may not give you the same results. Here are the tips:
1) Skip hair bands, clips for a couple of days: Usually, after Keratin or other hair straightening treatments, you are asked not to use hair bands or clips after the treatment for the fear your hair might get bent. But the same restrictions don't apply when it comes to cysteine treatment. My beautician did not stop me from wearing hair bands or clips for a few days immediately after cysteine treatment. But, as far as possible, I try to stay away from tying up my hair or using clips to hold it back, for about 2 days after the treatment. That way, you can be 100 percent sure, you are not going to get any awkward bends in your hair.
2) Do not wash your hair for two days after the treatment: Don't do this even if you are used to washing your hair every alternate day. The less you wash your hair, the longer the treatment stays in your hair. That doesn't mean you change the frequency of your hair washing. You should ideally wash your hair 2-3 times a week.
3) Stick to SLS-free shampoos and conditioners only: Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS) strips your hair of natural oils and moisture making it dry and frizzy. It will also wash away the treatment quicker. That's why your beautician will insist that you use SLS free products. Try this SLS-free shampoo and conditioner.
4) You can use any SLS-free products: Not just the ones recommended by your beautician. No harm in sticking to the ones you have been recommended but in case you aren't happy with them or feel like trying new products, go ahead.
5) Do not swim in the ocean or in swimming pools: Definitely, don't do this just after the treatment. Saline water and chlorine strip away the treatment.

6) Skip oiling your hair as much as possible: When your hair is oily, you require more shampoo to wash it off. The more shampoo you use, the quicker the treatment will wash away from your hair. Have you tried Bajaj Almond Drops hair oil?
