I am very particular about the way my eyes look and cannot do without my trusty kohl. Initially, I would use the thick kajal pencils and was never very happy with the outcome. But, with the revolutionary Maybelline Colossal, things changed and I thought it was the best thing any lady could own. I was a Colossal loyalist for many months, until recently when I ran out of it and gave the new Lakme Eyeconic a try. Here's what I feel about the two khol brands.

Long-lasting

I have always noticed that Colossal fades by the end of the day. I absolutely disliked the end of the day look with patches of kohl stuck to my lower eye line. To my surprise, Eyeconic did not disappoint me. It stayed intact for the whole day on my upper line and for about 9-10 hours on my lower line.

Colour

When it comes to the colour, I will stand by Eyeconic. The Colossal has a bit of a grey tone to it. Although I could never notice it, when I zoomed in on one of my pictures, I did make out the difference. On the other hand, one swipe of Lakme Eyeconic displays the intense black colour I want.

Texture

Here too I think Lakme Eyeconic wins the crown. It glides on smoothly without sticking to your eyelashes. It has a matte texture and in my opinion, it is smoother than Colossal.

Smudge proof

Although both are smudge proof, in my opinion Lakme Eyeconic wins the battle by a small margin.

Quality

All products appear to be pretty amazing in the beginning. It s only when you use it for a while that you see the real picture. At times, when I tried applying the Maybelline Colossal kohl on my upper lash line it broke off easily. In contrast, I have been using Lakme Eyeconic on my upper lash line, and it has not broken even once.

Easily removable

One good thing about Colossal is that it can be removed easily after application. It becomes very difficult to remove the Eyeconic with an ordinary make-up remover.

Price

The Maybelline Colossal is the first new-age kajal to enter the market. It wins the budget category as it offers the lowest price. Very easy on the pocket, it would fit in my allowance while I was in college too.

Personally, Lakme Eyeconic is a clear winner. It has a dark, intense colour, does not smudge and stays for long too.

Have you tried them both? Which one is your favourite? Do comment and let me know.
