If this question makes you giggle thinking what difference it makes, let me tell you many people think that wearing an unwashed bra for few days at a stretch during winters is fine. Since unlike summers, you don t sweat too much in winters, so your bra doesn't need a wash after every wear.
In fact, a few days back, a friend came and spilt a personal secret to me that she can go without washing her bra for few days at a stretch in winters as there is less of sweat and so practically it doesn't get dirty after one wear. It isn't something uncommon, I am sure many of us do this during winters, as we sweat less. But that wasn't something she was really proud of doing. Instead, her sole purpose to divulge this information to me was to know if it can harm her in any way. Here are five ways to make your bra last longer.
This made me think for a while and I thought of checking with an expert to know the consequences. So, we spoke to Dr Soma Sarkar, Medical Director & Dermatologist, Skin Inn Clinic, Mumbai and here is what has to say, You need to change and wash both sets of undergarments regularly, preferably every day, no matter the season. It is not a very hygienic to wear unwashed undergarments for a stretch of four to five days. Wearing the same undergarments makes the folds of your skin a breeding ground for fungus and bacteria due to dampness. There are high chances of getting a fungal infection which can be manifested as itching, rashes and become difficult to manage if left untreated. Here are six practical tips to choose the right size bras.
Remember even if you are not sweating profusely during winters, you are still covering yourself with layers of clothes which makes your body go damp, this is enough to give a green signal to the bacteria to breed. So washing your undergarments and wearing a fresh pair every day during winter is necessary.
Some people think that washing the undergarments regularly can make it lose its shape and elasticity. While this can be true to an extent but it doesn t mean you should wear unwashed undergarments to retain shape and elasticity. To prevent your undergarments from getting damaged and for a longer self-life always follow the wash instructions printed on the labels of your undergarments, put them in the washing machine using the right settings. This way you can prevent damage to your expensive undergarments and save yourself from getting a skin allergy or infection due to wearing unwashed bras.
