May Lead To Premature Ageing

Makeup may lead to premature ageing and can accentuate fine lines and wrinkles. Makeup may also make your skin dry or oily than usual. Therefore, a good skincare regime is very important before applying makeup, and after removing it at night to prevent premature ageing.

Avoiding Sunscreen Can Lead To Skin Problems

Sometimes people avoid using sunscreen before applying makeup. The sun damage leads to age spots and uneven skin tone. Also mixing SPF with the foundation may change the efficacy of the product and may not give you the desired protection from UVA & UVB. Therefore, the light foundation can be applied on top of your daily sunscreen.

Apply Makeup According To Your Skin Type

As suggested by the expert, here are some tips to keep in mind while applying makeup based on different skin types:

Combination To Oily Skin

  • Prep skin with products that are suitable for oily skin
  • Use cleansers that are water or gel-based for mild cleansing
  • Do not forget to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week
  • Use toner post-cleansing to minimise open pores and prepare the skin for moisturiser. A lightweight gel or water-based moisturiser is recommended
  • Select a foundation that works well for oily skin. Opt for loose powder or pressed matte powder on top of your foundation to mattify it
  • Choose a matte blush instead of a cream blush
  • Use Oil-free makeup remover to avoid any kind of breakout on the skin

Normal To Dry Skin

  • Prep the skin using products that are good for hydration
  • Cleanse tone and moisturise the skin before you proceed for makeup application
  • Rubbing ice on the face can be an excellent trick to help improve blood circulation and make the skin look radiant
  • Use a foundation that is good for normal to dry skin. This may add radiance to the skin
  • Apply a lightweight powder to set the foundation
  • Eye cream is a must below the concealer to avoid creasing under the eye
  • A cream blush can be applied to remove dryness. Remember to apply the cream over cream product, to avoid getting patchy
