It can be tempting to use a loofah to scrape off the breakouts on the back and the arms. But if you are using one when you have the breakouts you should probably re-think. Well-known dermatologist Dr. Sejal Shah tells you why.
That spongy scrubber meant to lather suds and exfoliate your body can be the perfect breeding place for bacteria. Even if you are using the ones made of actual cucumbers and not plastic mesh, don't use one. The loofah you use surely exfoliates your skin and removes the dead skin cells but when you leave the damp loofah in your bathroom for the next use, it can be an opportune time for the bacteria to cultivate. When you use it, you spread the bacteria you washed off the last time. This could make your acne worse and even lead to new breakouts. Also, the vigorous and constant rubbing with the loofah can irritate your skin and lead to inflammation and redness. It will also strip the natural oils from your, skin making your skin itchy and dry. Also, do not commit these 5 mistakes while taking a shower.
Tip
If you cannot do without the loofah, this tip will help you keep the bacteria away. Let the loofah dry. Keep the windows of the bathroom open and also leave the shower door open for some time to let the scrubber dry. However, remember not to use one in the case of a breakout. You may just want to use an over the counter good quality gentle body wash in the event of acne. Follow these tips to choose the right skincare products for acne-prone skin.
Treat acne with sauna or steam bath
Steam saunas and baths can instead help in the treatment of acne. The steam will open up and cleanse the pores, and enhance birth circulation. However, you must shower immediately after steam to remove the sweat. Here are some more benefits of sauna or steam bath.
