A bikini wax is the last thing that you would want to do when you are on your period. But sometimes when your schedules do not fall into place or when you have an early period, you get the bikini wax done even when you are on your period. But is it okay to get a bikini wax done during those days of the month? Let us hear it from beauty expert Janet Fernandez.

There is no reason you can t get a bikini wax done. Your friends might have told you that your periods make you more sensitive to the pain of waxing and there might be some truth to that. When you are on your periods your body is in an inflammatory state and more hormones are released from your body. All these put together could make your skin more sensitive and waxing could make the area tender. But let us be honest, waxing is already painful enough and a little more pain can be well bearable. Every girl and woman should know these 10 menstrual hygiene tips.

If you have hygiene concerns remember that area is not sterile anyway and it should not be an issue as your esthetician would be wearing gloves. So go ahead with it if you are okay with the fact that your wax will be a little more uncomfortable than normal.

Just follow a few of these tips to make sure that your bikini wax is less painful.

  • Make sure that you scrub the bikini area before waxing. Scrubbing will unblock the hair follicles, not only make it easier to release the hair but also make it less painful.
  • Make sure you wax only the area which is visible. Applying wax to the areas you can t see can lead to bruising and cause other skin traumas.
  • Make sure your skin is clean and dry before you go for a wax as wax does not stick properly to sweaty and sticky hairs. For best results, skip using the lotion on the day of waxing. Here are 5 things you must know before getting a Brazilian wax.
