Facials and I have never got along well. Every time I am back after getting one, I end up getting a nasty pimple the very next day or often by the evening itself. Believe me, I have tried several brands from VLCC to Shahnaz Hussain and many others but none of them have shown that glow or skin lightening effect that one gets after a good facial. Here's How often should you get a facial?
You may ask why I blow off money on it. I do it to thoroughly cleanse my skin, boost the circulation and get rid of the white and black heads so that my skin feels clean and smooth for a few days. I recently went to Pappion Salon and Spa in Colaba for a Signature Body massage which I have reviewed here. I was particularly impressed with the black mask de-tan facial by Remy Laure. So I decided to give it a try, assuming that this French brand may do me some good. Read: How to choose the right facial for your skin.
The experience
I did raise all my concerns regarding facial to them and they were confident that I will not have a bad experience. The beauty therapist guided me to a quiet and dimly lit room much like a spa setting. The procedure was the same- cleansing, scrubbing, face massage and pack. However, the techniques were so different than what I have ever experienced. Churning and grinding motion and acupressure techniques were used several times during the massage. I didn t realise when I went into deep slumber and believe me this has never happened before in the last decade.
The claim
Le Moor as Remy Laure claims has therapeutic properties. It is chemical and perfume free. It is rich in Vitamin A or retinol and has natural antibiotics, trace elements and phyto hormones. It works great for de-tanning as it is full of ions, absorbs toxins and refines the epidermis to stimulate the skin.
My review
The facial continued for an hour, after which a mask was applied, I loved the experience as it was undoubtedly relaxing. The much renowned black mask or Le Moor had a wonderful cooling effect on my skin and felt gooey yet non-sticky. Something like algae. It felt nice. The mask was allowed to stay for a good 25 minutes after which she wiped it off with a warm cloth. A generous dab of sunscreen was massaged onto my skin as I was stepping out in the sun after my facial. Very thoughtful.
Now I was waiting to greet a pimple the next morning and to my surprise it s been over four days and no sign of a pimple. Super impressed! My skin definitely looked brighter and shinier but didn t see a lightening effect as such. However, after ages I have enjoyed a facial and liked the after effects too. Kudos to Pappion Salon, Colaba, for this amazing job. The facial costs Rs3000. Since it is an expensive one, I d say it is a must try at least once.
