I never got a tattoo and I do not plan to get one. But when I see the stunning results of microblading it makes me reconsider. Microblading is essentially a cosmetic tattoo that fills in your brows and creates beautifully sculpted looking eyebrows. So out of curiosity, I headed to a microblading expert Nadia Sehar to ask a few things I should know before I try it out.
Microblading hurts
Any good microblading technician will numb your brows after she maps them out, just know that it is not painless. You can definitely feel the blade cutting the skin. It just feels like little tiny paper cuts. And later when the numbing cream wears off you are really sore and itchy. Your brows will also be red but that should disappear in about an hour.
You cannot wet your face after microblading
You cannot wash your face for a week. Your brows have to properly scab over, essentially heal and fall off. That means that you are not supposed to get your eyebrows wet or prick them. Just wipe around the area being careful not to saturate your brow. When you take a shower try not to keep your face drenched with water. If you get them wet by chance, just make sure that you dry them off quickly.
You need a second appointment
A lot of microbladers call it a follow-up treatment. However, they actually fill in the spots in the second appointment they must have missed in the first appointment. The second appointment is usually scheduled within 6-8 weeks. Here's how you can grow back over plucked eyebrows.
You need to manage your expectations
You may not be 100 percent happy with the results but it is all about expectations. They might just miss filling in a few spots here and there but your morning routine is definitely going to change. You can finish your brows in two seconds flat.
Your brows do not look like hair strokes after a few months
After a year or so the hair strokes may start fading so you probably have to go for a touch-up. If you have no eyebrows and you are completely creating new brows it is going to be more on the expensive side. Also, make sure that you research your technicians. You need to make sure that they have a license.
Your brows frame your face so if you have scanty brows you might just as well go for the technique. Would you try wigs for your eyebrows?
