The new entrant in my beauty must haves is the Lotus Ecostay Kajal or Kohl pencil. Now I agree that when you hear the word eye pencil, it reminds all of us of hard kohl that has it be rubbed so hard that your waterline hurts or eyes start watering. Learn how to apply kohl or kajal correctly here.
Well, the Lotus Ecostay is here to break all those myths. My sister was visiting me a month back and she recommended this product. I tried her eye pencil for a couple of days and bought one for myself. I am happy that I moved on from my Maybelline Colossal which was no more giving me the look and finish I expected and the gel liner takes a lot of time to apply. This new one seemed good and so here s my take on it:
My review
It s a sleek stick with a tight-fitting cap that ensures it stays intact in a small purse. It is free of paraffin, animal oil and any kind of preservatives and hence the name Ecostay. The product packaging specifically states that it is suitable for contact lenses and waterline which I haven t seen on any other brand packaging. Does it stick to its claim? Yes. It is a single stroke application which is rare in pencil eyeliners. You don t even need a second stroke for a darker shade. That one stroke gives you magical kohl finish that is smudge proof and stays intact for 5-6 hours. Here are 10 tricks to use eyeliner correctly.
I once slept off with my kajal in the afternoon and was happy to see that the line was as perfect as it could be. It s quick to apply and easy to carry though you won t need a retouch at all. My sister has watery eyes when she uses any other eyeliner or pencil. But this one does not irritate her eyes a bit. You can even get smokey eyes with just a kajal pencil. The cons
It is slightly expensive. A 1.2g stick costs Rs.325. However, one pencil will last you about 3-4 months even if you apply it daily. You will need to carry a sharpener with you while on a holiday or keep one handy at home too. That s the only drawback of this eye pencil that it needs to be sharpened frequently. Other than that, it is the perfect product.
Will I buy it again? This one will last me for another 3 months. If I don t come across a better product, I shall definitely buy it again. I also tried the Lakme Glide On Eyeliner in Deep Teal shade and really like it.
