While we were dressing up for a party in the evening, a close friend asked me if I have tried a primer before. I have avoided foundation at all possible occasions and don t use any heavy base before my makeup. In fact, kohl and a bright coloured lipstick with some mascara are the only makeup products I use with the eyeshadow dusted once in a while. She asked me to try this and feel my face. It was instant magic. I didn t want to get my hands off my face. My skin never felt so smooth since teenage. I had to buy this.
The product I am talking about here is the L oreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer. I am a fan of the product from day one. My face looked completely transformed in the pictures that night. So here s my review:
The packaging
The external packing is a sturdy black box while the product is in a tiny glass bottle. The bottle is transparent with a black lid and looks classy. It s easy to carry it every day to work too and is travel-friendly. You won t have to worry about any spilling or breakage. The product claims to have a sensational velvet texture and I completely agree with it. It is a unique blend of silicon oils and soft light powders create a sensational smoothing velvet formula to refine the skin. Read: Reasons for using a primer regularly. L oreal Paris Base Magique Transforming Smoothing Primer review:
My skin looked super radiant that night and like I mentioned, I didn t need any filters in the pictures. The primer has a thick texture and I like that. I have seen other primers which have the consistency of a lotion and I wasn t impressed with them. The rosy light pink shade is appealing. You will need to dip your fingers for application. But all you need is just a few dots of it on your face and then evenly spread it. My light pigmentation marks reduced visibly but the dark ones might need a concealer or foundation. The primer glides very easily on the skin and gives you an even surface.
I use the primer occasionally or whenever I feel too dull and want a radiant glow on my face or want my lip colour to look better and bolder. My skin hasn t ever felt so smooth and I can t stop bragging about this product. It is going to be a must in my kit. Read: Right way to use primer, moisturiser and foundation during monsoon.
As for the price, a 15ml bottle costs Rs1025 which is slightly steep but you can pick it up during the discount season for about Rs870. The bottle will easily last for 3-4 months if used regularly so I guess it s totally worth it. If you use it once a week or so, it might last you for more than 6 months. I am not going to try any other primer after this.
