I am celebrating 20 days of being acne free with this foaming gel. You should try it too

I have acne prone skin and breakouts around the nose and the chin is an everyday thing. Add it to it my terrible habit of popping them and I have more patches on my skin than on Indian roads. Popping the acne is the worst thing you can do to your face but some bad habits die hard. I have never concentrated on buying the right face wash or using the right moisturiser until recently. As recommended by friends and after reading a few reviews, I did try a few brands of face wash, but it didn't yield any impressive results. The frequency of acne may have reduced, but it still appears.

I heard about the French brand La Roche Posay, and since the products were priced on the higher side and the ingredient list seemed impressive, I decided to give it a try. I picked up the La Roche Posay Effaclar foaming gel for oily sensitive skin. A beauty expert has suggested using it with the Effaclar Duo so I picked it up too and I shall review that later.

It is a gel based face wash and does not have any fragrance which is good thing. Fragrant makeup and cleansing products are not good for your skin. I started using it about 20 days back, twice a day. It leaves the skin soft and hydrated but not creamy as it is meant for oily skin. Ingredients like the thermal spring water which is rich in selenium, softens and soothes the skin. Zinc and salicylic acid are highly recommended for acne prone skin and no wonder they controlled my acne completely. After using it for a week, I observed I had no new acne from the time I started using the gel. The existing acne dried out and did not itch or leave any redness on the skin. Super impressed!

To check if it is just a fluke, I switched to my old face wash for a day and I had acne breakouts the next morning. That s it. I threw my old face wash in the bin and now the La Roche Posay Effaclar foaming gel is going to be my best buddy for a long time. Twenty days and counting, no acne and I can t be happier.

The verdict

It s a great product though pretty expensive as compared to the cleansers available in the market. It costs Rs.425 for a 50ml tube. However, the results are marvelous. You need just a small quantity of it and even if you wash your face twice a day, the tube shall last you for a month. It s reasonable if you compare it to the consulting charges of a dermatologist. I d definitely invest in this one again.
