Since I have extremely dry and frizzy hair, I am on the constant look out for hair creams and masks that can help in softening my hair. During my search for the right products, I came across Himalaya Herbals Protein Hair Cream. The product has natural proteins derived from chickpeas and amla. I decided to invest in the product since amla is the perfect ingredient to get rid of hair problems. A 175 g tub of the product costs Rs 100, which makes it more affordable as compared to other hair products and it is easy and convenient to use while you re at home at least. Also, you can find this product easily in most stores.
The trial
The directions for use mention that it should be used both before and after shampooing your hair but once you actually open the tub, you will realize what a bad idea that would be. The cream is white in colour and thick in consistency. As soon as you apply it on your hair, it completely weighs it down and makes your scalp appear very oily. I used this product for more than a month and I realized that the cream needs to be massaged into your scalp very patiently for several minutes on end. I used this product twice a week after oiling my hair. I applied small portions on my scalp and then massaged it in from root to tip.
My review
I had very high expectations from Himalaya s protein cream because I have previously used the anti hair loss cream, which did help in making my hair softer. However, I felt in comparison, the protein cream is not as effective. The cream in itself is very heavy and even slightly greasy and it can t be rinsed off only with water. So, make sure to use a shampoo and completely avoid reapplying it after a hair wash due to its thick consistency. It did help in softening my hair and reducing the frizz, but only to a certain extent. All in all, given how affordable it is, I would recommend this product despite the cons. You could also try these four easy egg packs for healthier hair.
My rating: 3/5
