Finding a lipstick shade that actually compliments an Indian skin tone can seem like an uphill task sometimes. Another major challenge after finding a decent lipstick shade is dealing with the humidity and having to constantly reapply it because of that. I have been hunting for the perfect lipstick that not only compliments, but also brings out my skin tone. Other than being long lasting and resilient against Mumbai s humidity, of course. I recently chanced upon Hikari s lip crayon after I received it in my February Fab Bag. I got the fireside colour which is dark red and to say the least, I was excited to give it a try. Here are 5 ways to rock the dark lipstick look.
The Trial
If you buy the Hikari lip crayon online separately, it costs Rs 1000. The lipstick is very simplistic in design and still manages to look stylish at the same time. The only thing I was heavily disappointed in was that for some reason, the lipstick s cover was sellotaped and despite managing to pull it out, the tape left a thick gluey residue. Not to mention, that made the lip crayon sticky to touch and very unpleasant to use. I don t know if this is how it was packed by the Fab Bag crew or by the company itself, but I was extremely dissatisfied with the packing.
The Review
I used Fireside for a few days and I was happy to see though that it s a bold colour, it looks great on my Indian skin tone. The lip crayon has an excellent matt look without being too dry either. So you don t need to use any lip balm for moisture, which is great. This lipstick shade is great for both day and night time but I would prefer wearing it when I m heading out in the evening. The lipstick lasted for more than four to five hours at a stretch and you don t need many retouches even if you re travelling. All in all, it s a great product but I only wish the packaging wasn t so shoddy. I have now wrapped a piece of paper around the gluey handle for easier use.
