Now that it s summer, the need of the hour is a light moisturiser with enough SPF protection that can protect our skin from the harsh environmental elements. Of course, finding a moisturiser that doesn t make your skin oily whilst providing adequate SPF protection is an uphill task.
Most of the sunscreens available in India come in the form of both gels and creams. While the gels don t help in moisturising your skin, they at least protect your skin from excessive tanning and sun damage without making your skin too oily. I have combination skin and even during summer, my elbows, knees and legs tend to become dry and dull. Here's how to choose a sunscreen for oily, dry or normal skin type.
I received this AVA moisturiser that has SPF 30 in my EnvyBox, which made it seem perfect for summer. AVA stands for Ayur.Veda.Aroma and the product claims to be completely natural as it contains no parabens or artificial fragrances. Here's why you should use SPF 30 sunscreens this summer. This claim made me more keen to try out this product as I suffer from folliculitis, which means I can t use most moisturisers commonly available in the market. This product is not easily available in beauty retail shops and you will have to order it online.
My Trial
The moisturiser smells great as it is made of pure white essential oils of jasmine, mogra and vanilla, and the product also claims that it has anti-blemish and anti-ageing properties. A 50 ml bottle costs Rs 150, which makes it more expensive that your average moisturiser. I have been using the moisturiser for the last two weeks and just like it mentions on the bottle, it doesn t leave any greasy residue on your skin and gets absorbed quickly. Only thing is, you have to massage the moisturiser into your skin properly as it is slightly thick in consistency.
My Review
After using the product every morning, I have noticed that my skin, especially my elbows and knees don t feel so dry any longer. Also, to an extent, the previously dark and scaly skin on these areas has lightened a little, which is a great relief! The jasmine and mogra fragrance doesn t last for long but while applying it, you do get the feeling that you re pampering yourself. However, I would recommend not using it on your face if you have oily skin, especially with the high humidity levels.
My Rating: 4.5/5
