Waxing is a monthly dose of hair removal which leaves our skin smooth and soft. However, it can have its ill-effects and lead to unwanted skin irritation and allergies, if the wax is not chosen carefully. Your skin type and the ingredients in the wax play an important role. Many of us stick to honey and lemon or lemon and sugar and may not be very happy with the way our skin turns out after waxing. You may choose flavoured wax as an alternative. Here is all you need to know about the different types of wax to make the right choice.

Flavoured wax

Chocolate wax

Chocolate as an ingredient has many beauty benefits to offer. It prevents fine lines, hydrates and boosts the skin for a healthy glow. This is so because chocolate posses antioxidants like cocoa flavonoids which are good for skin. Chocolate wax too, is made of cocoa, almond oil, soyabean oil, glycerine and vitamins. These ingridients, hence make hair removal less painful and reduce occurrences of skin redness and irritation.

This wax is smooth on the skin and does not call for any discomfort as it may be in the case of normal wax. It is also beneficial for preventing ingrowth. Chocolate wax helps prolong hair growth and waxes off the tiniest of hair smoothly. It gives a smooth sheen on the skin's surface immediately as the essential oils present in chocolate wax ensure the moisture penetrates into the deep layers of the skin.

Aloe vera wax

Aloe vera as a core ingredient itself is soothing to the skin. Aloe vera gel is useful to soothe skin allergies and irritation, hence it is a better option than normal wax as it would not call for any after-wax rashes. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants that help firm up the skin and replaces dead skin cells with new ones, leaving you with a radiant skin. Hence, those with excessive skin problems and sensitive skin may replace normal wax with this one. Aloe vera wax gives your skin a well-moisturised effect.

Strawberry wax

Strawberry wax has a fine consistency such that it spreads and melts easily. Strawberry also possesses skin lightening properties and the vitamin C present in it helps manage oily skin better and nourishes the skin. This wax is a good alternative and it will also help work on revitalising the skin.

Normal wax

Honey wax, lemon and sugar wax

Honey wax or one with lemon and sugar may be harsher on the skin's surface and often leave behind thin and very short hair growth. There is also more probability of ingrown hair. Normal waxing may not suit your skin type or soothe your skin problems. If you do opt for it, make sure you moisturise your skin well after the waxing session.
