The classic process of straightening has come a long way from blow drying to ironing. You may think you are a pro at straightening but you still need to know the right way of using the heat tool as doing it the wrong way can cause damage to your hair. So make sure that you do not commit these mistakes when you flat iron your curls.
Mistake #1: Not rinsing the conditioner thoroughly
You may have often noticed that as soon as you place an iron on your hair, you see smoke. This is probably because you did not rinse your conditioner thoroughly or applied too much of it before ironing your hair. So, rinse your hair thoroughly before you come out of the shower. Here's how you can deep condition your hair without a conditioner.
Mistake #2: Taking large sections of hair for ironing
To save up time, you may make large sections of your hair for ironing. Ironing large parts will surely save up time but making sections will ensure that each strand is properly straightened from roots to the ends.
Mistake #3: Using a high-temperature setting
If your old iron or dryer does not have any temperature control, it is time to switch to a new one. You would want one with a variation of heat to suit the texture of your hair. You always do not have to work in the very high 450-degree setting and cause damage to your hair. If you touch up many times a week, make sure you reduce the temperature to minimise the damage. Find out the best blow dryers for every hair type.
Mistake #4: Not using a comb
While using a flat iron, make sure to use a small comb to detangle your hair and add volume. Your locks will look lifeless if you don t use a comb while straightening.
Mistake #5: Applying too much serum
Applying too much of your favourite serum after blow drying or ironing can make your hair oily. So rub 3-4 drops of serum on your hands and then apply it to your hair. Here's how you can make your own argan oil serum for frizzy hair.
