I was 19 when I first shaved my body hair and borrowed some shaving cream from my dad s shaving kit and since then men grooming items have been a part of my beauty routine. I also love the rich, and the warm scent of my husband s cologne encased in a mysterious dark bottle. But if you are a fan of men grooming items like me, dermatologist Dr Sejal Shah tells you if it is okay to use male grooming items.
Men have thicker and firmer skin as compared to women. And so beauty products for men are made of stronger ingredients that meet the needs of their skin type. You may hence damage your skin when you use them for a long time. Here are a few male grooming items that you must stop using.
His after-shave lotion
If you like the light scent of his aftershave lotion, you may avoid using it as most of these lotions have a high alcohol content that can often irritate your face. You can try using this natural aftershave lotion to soothe your skin.
His face scrub
Also, men s face scrub is grainier than a woman, and it might irritate your skin if you use it on your face. However, it can be a good idea to use a men s face scrub as a body scrub to exfoliate the dry skin on your elbows and knees.
His razor
If you fancy using razor s thinking that they will make your legs extra smooth, know that it can irritate your skin leaving your skin feeling itchy and dry. Plus, it is a very temporary solution and can result in a lot of undergrowth. If you are still doing it, here are 10 tips to shave your body the right way.
