It is lame when men decide not to wear helmets and then reason it out by saying that a prolonged use of helmets causes balding. This is a big myth just like some other male balding myths that are prevalent among people. Here are top 10 reasons for hair loss in men. The most common assumption is that the head gear or helmets prevent the scalp from breathing and due to less supply of oxygen, one experiences hair loss. However, the truth is hair follicles are not dependent on the air to receive oxygen. They get their dose of oxygen from the blood stream. Just like tying the tight hairstyles or a particular hairstyle can be the cause of traction alopecia in women, wearing a helmet or headgear that is uncomfortably tight, may interfere with circulation, which may cause hair loss. Also, dirty helmets or hats can lead to scalp infection which may be the cause of your hair loss. So obviously it is not wearing the clean helmets or hats that lead to balding or hair issues in men.
