Our trusty black eyeliners are really safe and difficult to mess with once you get around to wearing it every day. Coloured eyeliners are a completely different ball game! They look sassy and are the current trend of the season but can really go wrong and destroy the whole look. If you don't want your eyes to sting after wiping off your eyeliner mistakes, again and again, bookmark these hacks NOW!
1. Start from the end of the eyelid. You need to start at the out corner for any eyeliner but especially with the coloured eyeliners because if you start from the inner corner chances are that you'll make the line thicker, which you don't want when it is a different colour. Start at the end and keep your inner line thinner for a balanced look.
2. Opt for a pencil eye-liner: Liquid eyeliners are very tricky and might even drip into your eyes. It needs a lot of practice to acquire the skill. Go for pencil eye-liners.
3. Minimal is the best way to go. Apply either only on the upper lid or the lower lid. Coloured eyeliner is already going to take all the attention from your face, don't overdo it.
4. Opt for the glitter versions for lighter shades. Lighter, pastel shades tend to blend in with both dark and light skin tone. Opt for the glitter version of it instead. You may opt for a bright or neon shade of the colour you want.
5. Choose the colour that suits your skin tone. Even though you are free to choose whatever colour you like but it is best to swatch the eyeliners on your skin before buying it. Swatch it on the top of your hand as the skin colour of that area is very similar to your face.
6. Whileusing a liquid liner, use the right brush. Use an angled brush or if you haven't gotten a hang of it, use a thin liner brush to apply liquid liner perfectly. This works for black eyeliner too but with the coloured liner, it is very important that you don't make mistakes.
7. Opt for safer colours, to begin with. It is good to start with safer colours such as brown, silver, grey because even if you mess up with these colours, it won't be very prominent. After this, you can lead to brighter, bolder colours such as blue, pink, red.
8. Balance well with the rest of the makeup. If you are using a bright coloured eyeliner, DO NOT use a bright coloured lipstick unless you want to look loud on purpose. Go easy on the highlights and blush too.
