Essential oils are a big rage nowadays. They make nice gift items. I haven t received them as a gift but given it to a few friends and they were delighted. Recently, I received the tea tree essential oil from Kama Ayurveda for reviewing. Now, I don t know how they guessed I was a big fan of the tea tree fragrance! I love the Elizabeth Arden s tea tree perfume, I have used the Oriflame tea tree face wash for years and have seen great results and now it was time to try the essential oil.
How I used it?
The best way to test the fragrance of an essential oil is to add it to the diffuser or that s how I test it. I added a few drops in my diffuser and my home stayed fragrant for almost three hours. It was a fresh and mild fragrance which is nice. What s the point if it is strong enough to give you a headache? It can be used as a bath or massage oil. I will try this over this weekend but for massage, you will need to mix just few drops with a carrier or base oil. Essential oils are strong and are best used in diluted state to avoid any reactions on the skin. The oil can also be used for facial steam or to relieve congestion. My father, who was suffering from nose and chest congestion, added two drops to the steam water and felt better after two steaming sessions. The experience
Now as Kama Ayurveda claims, it has antibacterial properties and it can be used for aromatherapy. The mild spicy and pungent aroma will work great in aromatherapy. Here s how you can identify your aromatherapy essential oil with the help of Ayurveda. The tea tree essential oil also helps build immunity. It fights against skin infections, dandruff and acne too. Since I have used tea tree face wash from another brand, I agree that it does ward off acne. Its antiseptic and antifungal properties may help prevent or reduce dandruff as stated on Kama Ayurveda s website. But that will require a few trials. All in all I am happy with this product with so many diverse uses.
Will I buy it? It sounds expensive at Rs550 for a 12ml bottle but few other brands like Khadi, Soulflower, or Aroma Magic cost almost the same or little less. However, since 2-3 drops are enough, whether using in a diffuser or for steaming, this bottle will last for long.
