You notice those white flakes on your head and wonder if you got them from your roommate. Dandruff is a common problem with most people these days and since it is a fungal infection, it can be easy to believe that dandruff is contagious. But can that be true? Mr Rohit Batra, leading dermatologistclears your doubt.
Dandruff is not contagious. You get dandruff when a yeast known as Malassezia forms on the scalp. You get the classic oily, flat yellow flakes on your scalp because of the yeast. However, your dandruff can get worse if the yeast that occurs in small numbers in the scalp is increased in numbers. Yeast levels may rise when the humidity and heat rise when you sweat.
If you notice those pesky flakes, you might need a slight tweak in your hair care routine.
Even if you do not have dandruff and worried that you might get it, you need to take better care of your scalp. Avoid putting your hair through chemical processes like colouring and using products like dry shampoo that could irritate your scalp. These 5 leaves can help fight dandruff and hair fall.
