Everybody is obsessed with a beauty blender these days be it the celebrity make-up artists or the beauty bloggers. The oval-shaped sponge is not your regular make-up applicator after all. A beauty blender is better than a brush because sometimes when you are putting on foundation, a brush can leave strokes and it kind of looks like you have just painted your face. A beauty blender makes you look airbrushed, dewy and makes your skin looks natural, just a little bit better.

Steps to use a beauty blender

However, in order to get the most flawless, even foundation application, you need to know how to use the beauty blender the right way. Beauty expert Janet Fernandez tells you the right way to do it.

  • The first step is to put it in warm water and let it absorb as much as you can. What this is doing by absorbing water is making sure that the foundation or the tinted moisturiser sits on top of the sponge. That way it doesn t absorb all the foundation in the middle and you get the most out of your foundation application.
  • Once you have soaked it in water, you need to ring out the sponge until it s damp so that it is ready to be used.
  • Next, take your favourite foundation, put it on your hand or a nice clean plate, dip the sponge in the foundation and apply. Use the pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like those around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes. Use the round base for foundation and blush on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin. You could be making these 4 mistakes while applying foundation.

Protip--You also need to clean the beauty blender every day after use because it is a reusable sponge. Just take a blender cleanser and put two drops of the liquid on top of your blender. Then slowly start to massage it with your fingers. Then place it under warm water until the makeup is removed and let it air dry. Here's how to choose the right base make-up for your face.
