Going for a sleeveless T-shirt can be a little risky because it isn't always easy to pull off. The whole look can go for a complete miss if certain factors are not in play. Here are our tips to choosing the best type and fit for sleeveless tee shirts:
Figure out if you can carry off the sleeveless look in the first place. Try on a sleeveless T-shirt at a store to decide whether you should even proceed any further.
Decide if you intend to wear the sleeveless by itself or with a jacket/shirt on it. Note that if it is to be worn as a standalone garment then it can even be in a printed and vibrant in colour. When teaming it up with a jacket/shirt, colour co-ordination is important, so opt for something in plain colours preferably.
As for the bottoms, it's pretty simple with a printed top go plain with the bottoms; in case of a textured pair of trousers or shorts choose a plain sleeveless shirt. You could try on pair of khakhee pants for a casual look. Another option is to wear a full sleeve shirt with rolled up sleeves as a jacket to go with the trousers.
The choice of colours is essential too. Darker shades and muted hues can be worn by those with darker skin tones. Lighter and pale choice of colors works well with fairer skin.
Certain types of sleeveless T-shirts are best suited to certain body types. If you are muscular and have an athletic body type, tight fitted and v-neck T-shirts should go well on your body frame. If you are rather lean and thin, the square shaped sleeveless is suitable to give a fuller look. This type of tee shirt is much looser and helps divert attention from the arms.
You will have to tread a pretty fine line to get the look and feel you want with your sleeveless shirt, but it's not impossible.
