How to manage dry and frizzy hair in summers? (Beauty query)

I am a 26-year-old woman. My hair is dry and frizzy but during summers it has become unmanageable. Moreover, my scalp also becomes sticky because of excessive sweating. Is there a way to prevent it? It is one of the most common queries that people have, especially during summers on how to manage hair. The reason why your hair becomes frizzy and dry is that the heat and humidity in summer damage the hair cuticle (outer layer of the hair follicle), which causes the hair to become static, brittle and unmanageable. Moreover during summers, due to excessive sweating and humidity, the scalp becomes sticky, further hindering with hair care. Here are few tips that can help you to manage your hair during summers and prevent dry, frizzy hair.

1. Wash your hair at least 2 – 3 times a week (if washing it every day is not possible then washing it every alternative day is a right idea). By doing, your hair will become less greasy and manageable. Here are 5 tried-and-tested rinses for healthy hair in summer.

2. Use a mild shampoo, preferably a herbal one to lessen the effect of harsh chemicals on the hair. If you are prone to dandruff, then opt for a medicated anti-dandruff shampoo and use it once a week for effective results.

3. After washing your hair with shampoo, follow it by applying a good conditioner on the hair ends. Do not apply the conditioner on the scalp. If possible, choose a leave-in conditioner as it not only seals the moisture but also protects the hair from the harmful effects of the sun and pollution.

4. You can even try using apple cider vinegar to improve the shine and texture of your hair during summers. All you have to do is add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and dilute it with a litre of water. After shampooing, pour it on the hair to restore shine.

5. If you are leaving your hair open, then use hair conditioners or serums containing sunscreen, after hair wash to mitigate the effect of sun damage. However, it is wise to tie your hair to make it appear less greasy due to sweat. It also prevents the hair from becoming rough and unmanaged due to the heat.
