Winter is coming! Well, not right away but we surely are inching closer to a change in the weather — into a pre-winter season. You may have to make a few altercations to your wardrobe and a couple of changes and additions to your make-up kit. Here is how you can have your make-up blending well in the pre-winter months. It’s all about keeping your skin radiant and the make-up minimalist. Like the summer trends this year, for the months before winter, the all-natural look is preferred. Sheer make-up is a good option. Natasha Daniel, head make-up artist at beauty blog ‘fBeauty,’ says, ‘To keep in line with the theme, you can go for light bronzed glow, which gives the impression of a distant late summer holiday.’

Steps: Natasha explains, how to set the base make-up right, ‘To achieve the perfect glow that isn t too intense, you can start with a primer. Next up is the all important base. For this time of year, foundation isn t necessary, so instead opt for a tinted moisturiser. Apply evenly with a brush or your fingers for best results. Complete your look by lightly dusting down the bridge of your nose, your chin, as well as your ears. You can even take what s left on your brush and sweep down your neck and collar bones for a uniformed finish.’ A suitable translucent powder or bronzer can be brushed on for that glowing finish without having to do much.

Eyes

Bright colours are not in this season. Instead, use warm and earthy shades of brown, copper or even nudes as eyeliners (on the water line) and/or eyeshadows. Also, you could stick to wearing just your eyeliner (on the eyelid), trying out new styles of drawing your liner. You could lay emphasis on highlighting your eye brows, this will help enhance your eyes naturally.

Steps: Natasha advises, ‘On the lid for a maximum pop of colour try using a cream base first followed by a touch of loose shadow on top, in a copper or antique gold colour and watch how your eyes will lift and sparkle. Do the same in your inner corners with a lighter shade to highlight and wait for the compliments to come pouring in. Colour choices for this season are champagne (for inner corners) and bronze.’

Lips

For that added fresh hue, ensure your lips are well-moisturised and healthy. Don’t forget to apply lip oil or lip butter in case of chapped lips. You could always apply some petroleum jelly or lip balm just before wearing your lipstick. This helps keep your lips moisturised and ensures the lip colour lasts longer.

Berry, burnt orange tones of red, coffee brown and natural or pink nudes are colours that would go well with most of the eye make-up for the season. Natasha suggests, ‘Keep it matte for this season and glossier for spring-summer.’

Nails

Instead of picking bright colours for your nails, opt for sober and dark shades. Try, teal, maroon or plum, olive or military green, chocolate brown, shimmery copper and burgundy shades of nail paint.
