Those ugly black dots around the knees and all over my legs made wearing dresses and short skirts so difficult. I am referring to the stubborn ingrown hair. There are times when I have taken a pin or toothpick and tried to pluck it so that they can emerge out and be removed at the time of waxing. Ingrown hair is due to shaving is nothing more than a myth because I have not shaved for years so there was no reason why I should have ingrown hair. But I do. So here s what I did on the suggestion of my beautician. She asked me to invest in a good body scrub and pumice stone. You can use these DIY scrubs to get rid of ingrown hair. The key to get rid of ingrown hair during waxing is to begin using the pumice stone at least 3-4 days before waxing. Rub the stone gently on all the areas where you have ingrown hair. To prevent ingrown hair for the next month, continue using the scrub for 3-4 days post waxing too. Use a good astringent and moisturiser immediately after waxing. You can also use tea tree oil to get rid of ingrown hair. If you have a lot of ingrown hair, it will take a couple of months or more to completely get rid of it. It took me 3 waxing sessions which means approximately 2 and half months to see the problem vanish. Do not stop the scrubbing routine after this and to stay free from any ingrown hair.
