Curly hair is a texture that can be very tricky to handle and style. However, it is also extremely fun to experiment with once you understand how curly or wavy your hair is. Here are a few ways to style curly hair:

For loose natural waves or curls: If your hair texture has easy waves and curls that are not too tight, it is in fact easier to set your hair, especially if you are in a hurry. You should ensure your hair is absolutely dry before styling it and be cautious of not rubbing the towel to you hair.

The friction caused would only make your hair frizzy. It's best to leave it to dry naturally. Once dry, take not more than quarter-sized amount of hair product on your palm (hair paste or gel) and lightly scrunch your hair. Do this, with your fingertips from the back of head towards the front. This is perfect for a very natural and rugged look. However, if you are stepping out for a formal outing or a party, you could try brushing your hair to either sides for a neater look.

For curly or wavy long hair: If you have very wavy or curly hair in a lot of layers, use a hair product with medium hold for hair styling. This means, it won't flatten your hair texture and not will it bounce up the curls further. It helps maintain a balance and ensures your hair is easy to manage. You could leave this look as natural and fresh as possible by not using a harsh hair gel. This hairstyle is preferable when left natural, if you want a more messy and wet look, you could use a little more product and scrunch your hair upwards.

For the short, cropped, curly and wavy hair: With the short crop, the styling is reverse as there is longer length of hair on the crown than on the sides. For this, it is preferred you use a product not too strong and something that maintains your curls. Run your fingers through your curls with product on them, from the front towards the back. Style the mid-length and longer hair instead of the short ones.

For the short shag with spiral curly hair: The best part about short haircuts for curly hair is that the texture is prominent and falls well. Again, take a hair paste with medium hold and run your finger through your entire hair. For the absolute tight, spiral curls you don't have to be direction specific while applying the product. This hairstyle is hassle-free and simple to sport.
