I am a 24-year-old female having PCOD. I am suffering from a lot of hair fall lately. Can I undergo any treatment for hair loss due to my condition? How can I prevent hair loss in this condition? Please help me.

PCOD or polycystic ovarian disease is caused due to hormonal imbalances in the body, so it may result in temporary hair loss or may lead to thinning also. In order to analyse the problem in detail, you need to get your hair and scalp analysis done which will give us a precise diagnostic picture of your problem. Kindly consult a trichologist who can provide an accurate solution.
Our tip
While a visit to the trichologist is a good idea, you could also try some home remedies to overcome your hair loss problem. Coconut has various properties that can lessen your hair fall. Its milk contains proteins, minerals like iron, potassium and essential fats that can reduce hair breakage. Its oil makes the root stronger so massaging it on your scalp regularly will provide some relief from hair fall.
Another natural ingredient that can reduce hair fall is amla. Rich in antioxidants and full of vitamin C, amla does good to your hair. You can eat it or apply it on your scalp. Mix amla and lime juice and apply, keep it overnight and then wash in the morning.
Eggs too have been used to promote hair growth as it contains proteins and minerals like iron, zinc, phosphorous, etc. Mix the white of an egg with either olive oil or raw milk and apply it on the scalp as well as the hair. Leave for half-an-hour and then wash away with a mild shampoo.
Apart from these, it is important to eat a healthy diet. Get your condition under control with the help of proper medication and your hair fall should reduce. (Read: How is hair loss caused)
