This sounds like Acanthosis nigricans although its important to see your dermatologist to rule out other conditions.

Acanthosis Nigricans is strongly linked with diabetes and insulin resistance. It is a condition where there is darkening and thickening of the skin in folds such as neck, armpits, groin etc.

It is also characteristic of problems such as obesity, cushings disease, polycystic ovaries, etc and certain tumours and sometimes medication itself like insulin, steroids etc. Here are some tips to get flawless skin without dark spots and patches.
